For half a decade, Southwestern College has attempted to assess its economic impact on its service area in terms of college employment and the expenditures it makes. Thanks to a new statewide information system, the college now incorporates the post‐college earnings of its students as part of a larger picture of economic benefits for the community and its students. This chapter describes how state wage data are converted for local use in college planning, program improvement, and measurement of institutional effectiveness.
