In the early 1990s, attention focused on the role of the North Carolina community college system in workforce development. Efforts were put forth to establish and develop measurable outcomes of successfulworkforce training, particularly employment rates, median salary of program completers, and completers' satisfaction with programs and colleges. This chapter presents the latest findings regarding state efforts in economic development and the contributions of community colleges.
