How many studies will it take to show that young people are overdosing because they are not getting medications needed to treat their opioid use disorder (OUD)? The most recent study shows that this is not likely to change unless there is a system in place to link these young people to treatment, but earlier work by the same senior author shows the problem may be even deeper: stigma, bureaucracy, and lack of prescriber availability.
