Younger siblings of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or attention‐deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) are at elevated risk for the same disorder, but, additionally, at risk of the other disorder as well, researchers have found. Their study helps support the idea that there are shared genetic mechanisms underlying both disorders. The researchers urge screening and early detection, as well as efforts at understanding potential shared causes of both disorders.
