Poison control centers received 11,275 reports of children and adolescents, mostly children under age 6, ingesting buprenorphine during the 2007–16 time period, according to a study published in the current issue of Pediatrics . From 2013 to 2016, there was a 30% increase in the frequency of exposures among children and adolescents to buprenorphine film, which the researchers attributed to the continued increase in prescriptions.
