It's a myth that someone with psychotic symptoms is dangerous, and it's also wrong to think the diagnosis means your child is doomed — far from it. The RAISE (Recovery After Initial Schizophrenia Episode) initiative by the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) shows that with coordinated specialty care, treatment, including medications, is effective.
