“Since 2014 there have been an average of 5 school shootings per month. Since Sandy Hook in 2012, there have been at least 239 school shootings nationwide. In these episodes, 438 were shot and 138 were killed, and 16 can be classified as events where 4 or more people were shot” ( New York Times , 2/15/2018, data taken from the Gun Violence Archive).
