Children in foster care have often faced complex traumatic childhood experiences; recurring familial separations; loss of familiar environments, neighborhoods, and schools; and perhaps inadequate or inconsistent access to health care and educational opportunities. Out‐of‐home placement into foster care is a stressful, often chaotic experience; accessing adequate health care during this time should not be an additional burden for these vulnerable youth.
