Short‐term use of methylphenidate could improve hyperactivity, and possibly inattention, in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), in children who are tolerant of the medication, according to a recent Cochrane Review . However, the researchers concluded there is no evidence to prove that methylphenidate for ASD in general is safe or effective.
