The term “implicit bias” is now commonly used in mainstream media as the public tries to make sense of recent, widely publicized shootings of unarmed black men. Although most public attention currently focuses on implicit bias within police departments, the effects of implicit bias are pervasive, potentially affecting some of the youngest in our society, children who have yet to enter kindergarten.
