We have explored the minimal RNA substrate of flexizymes and developed a simple method for measuring the acylation efficiencies for various amino acids, including non‐proteinogenic amino acids, by using a four‐base RNA substrate (GCCA). The picture illustrates how the small RNA substrate efficiently classifies the incoming amino acid substrates one by one. Amino acid substrates are classified into one of three boxes depending on their acylation efficiencies. More information can be found in the full paper by H.
