The cover picture shows a cyclotide, a globular microprotein with a unique head‐to‐tail cyclized backbone that is stabilized by three disulfide bonds forming a cystine‐knot motif. The high stability and sequence tolerance of this molecular scaffold have made it an excellent framework for the design of novel peptide‐based therapeutics and bioimaging tools. In their article, the authors provide an overview of the biotechnological applications of these interesting microproteins. Cover art produced by Isaac Mora. More information can be found in the review by J. A. Camarero and A. Gould on page 1350 in Issue 14, 2017 (DOI: 10.1002/cbic.201700153).
