The inside cover picture shows the generation of novel analogues of the polyether ionophore salinomycin; a uniquely selective agent against cancer stem cells and latent tuberculosis. On p. 2081 ff. , P. F. Leadlay et al. show that deletion of salE from the biosynthetic gene cluster abolishes salinomycin production and yields two compounds in which a cis double bond is replaced by a hydroxyl group.
