The inside cover picture shows C3‐naphthylethynylated 3‐deaza‐2′‐deoxyadenosine, 3nz A, which exhibits dual fluorescence emission arising from intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) and locally excited (LE) states depending upon molecular coplanarity. On p. 1638 ff. Y. Saito and co‐workers explain how DNA probes containing 3nz A could clearly discriminate a perfectly matched thymine base on the complementary strand through a distinct change in emission wavelength.
