O 2 .− scavenger: The rate constant for the rapid reaction of the ROS superoxide with the reduced vitamin B 12 radical complex cob(II)alamin was directly determined to be 3.8×10 8 M −1 s −1 . This rate was independent of pH over the range 5.5–8.7. These results have implications for studying the use of B 12 supplements to combat diseases associated with oxidative stress.
