An iterative type I polyketide synthase gene , named pksF , has been cloned from Alternaria solani. The Aspergillus oryzae pksF expression transformant produced two new polyene products, named aslanipyrone ( 1 ) and aslaniol ( 2 ), and at least nine other polyene compounds.
