Getting a complex . A novel colorimetric screen has been developed for detecting the activity of lipases and esterases in microtitre‐plate (MTP) format. Hydrolase‐catalyzed hydrolysis of dimedone esters of carboxylic acids yielded dimedone that formed a soluble green complex ( λ max =417 nm) in the presence of copper( II ) acetate and DMSO, see scheme.
