Abstract The suitability of enantiomerically pure deltacyclenes as building blocks in the synthesis of expanded phosphanes was examined. Different substituted deltacyclenes were irradiated with diphenylphosphane and three bisphosphanyl derivatives. With these PH addition reactions, new chiral deltacyclane‐derived phosphorus ligands were synthesized. They were tested in the Rh‐catalyzed asymmetric hydrogenation of (Z)‐(ã)‐ N ‐acetamidocinnamic acid and in the Pd‐catalyzed asymmetric allylation of 1,5‐dimethylbarbituric acid.
