The reaction of N‐isopropyl‐2‐(isopropylamino)troponimine, [( i ‐Pr) 2 ATI]H, with KH in THF affords [( i ‐Pr) 2 ATI]K. This is a useful starting material for the preparation of the mono‐, bis‐ and tris‐substituted compounds [[ i ‐Pr) 2 ATI]YCl 2 ‐(THF) 2 } 2 , [( i ‐Pr) 2 ATI 2 Y[O(2,6,t‐Bu 2 C 6 H 3 )] and [( i ‐Pr) 2 ‐ATI] 3 Ln (Ln = Y, La, Sm), which can be obtained from ([ i ‐Pr) 2 ATI]K and LnX 3 and LnX 3 (X = Cl, I), or Y[O(2,6‐ t ‐BuC 6 H 3 )] 3 . All compounds have been characterized by spectroscopic methods. The monosubstituted yttrium complex {[( i ‐Pr) 2 ATI]YCl 2 (THF) 2 } 2 has also been investigated by single crystal X‐ray diffraction.
