Preparation and Reactions of (η 5 1‐Pentamethylcyclopentadienyl)1‐ and (η 5 1‐Ethyltetramethylcyclopentadienyl)titanium Trifluoride [1] Compound Cp*TiCl 3 ( 1 , Cp*η 5 1‐Me 5 C 5 ) reacts with an excess of AsF 3 to yield the crystalline complex [Cp*TiF 3 ] 2 ·2 AsF 3 ( 2 ). AsF 3 can be removed from 2 in vacuo to give Cp*TiF 3 ( 3 ). Complex (η 5 1‐EtMe 4 C 5 )TiCl 3 ( 4 ) is converted by an excess of AsF 3 to (η 5 1‐EtMe 4 C 5 )TiF 3 ( 5 ). Compound 3 reacts with a lithium 1,3‐diketonate to form the hexacoordinated complex ( 6 ) and with a lithium benzamidinate to yield pentacoordinated Cp*TiF 2 [(Me 3 SiN) 2 C‐C 6 H 4 OMe‐(4)] ( 7 ): The reaction of 3 with Ph 3 PNSiMe 3 and C 2 H 2 (Ph 2 PNSiMe 3 ) 2 leads to Cp*TiF 2 NPPh 3 ( 8 ) and (Cp*TiF 2 NPPh 2 ) 2 C 2 H 2 ( 9 ), respectively. X‐Ray structure analyses of compounds 2 and 5–9 have been performed.
