Substituent Effects on the Structure of 1‐Azaspiropent‐1‐ene Low‐temperature (199 K) X‐ray structure analyses of the azaspiropentene 1 and its dimer 2 have been undertaken. The peripheral bonds of 1 (C–C 1.544, C=N 1.278 Å) are elongated because of steric strain and conjugation with the phenyl ring (for C=N). The distal bond (C–C 1.485 Å) in the three‐membered ring of 2 is shortened by the substituent effects of the N=C and C=N groups.
