A Simple Synthesis of Dimetallic Zirconium/Aluminium Compounds Containing Planar‐Tetracoordinate Carbon (η 2 ‐Alkyne)(trimethylphosphane)zirconium complexes [alkyne = cyclohexyne ( 3a ) or diphenylacetylene ( 3b )] react with diisobutylaluminium hydride at room temperature by PMe 3 cleavage and addition of HAl(isobutyl) 2 to the in situ‐generated (η 2 ‐alkyne)ZrCp 2 intermediate to give the dimetallic Zr,Al compounds 4 . These thermodynamically stable complexes contain a planar‐tetracoordinate carbon center whose uncommon coordination geometry is stabilized by a combination of the s̀‐donor interaction with both electropositive metals and the π‐conjugation of the ZrC C moiety.
