Synthesis of Chloro(trichloromethyl)sulfine, Cl 3 C(Cl)CSO The unstable trichlorothioacetyl chloride ( 2 ) could be trapped by a Diels‐Alder reaction with anthracene to form the adduct 3 , which in turn could be oxidized to the corresponding sulfine adduct 4 . Finnaly, chloro(trichloromethyl)sulfine ( 5 ) was prepared in good yield by vacuum thermolysis (retro Diels‐Alder reaction) of 4 .
