1,4‐Dioxino[2,3‐ b ]pyridines and 1,4‐Oxathiino[2,3‐ b ]pyridines 1,4‐Dioxino[2,3‐ b ]pyridine and 1,4‐Oxathiino[2,3‐ b ]pyridine Reaction of 3‐hydroxy‐2‐pyridones 1 or 3‐hydroxy‐2‐pyridinthiones 2 with sodium hydride and 1,2‐dibromoethane in hexamethylphosphorous triamide gives 1,4‐dioxino[2,3‐ b ]pyridines 3 and 1,4‐oxathiino[2,3‐ b ]pyridines 5 which can be hydrogenated to amino‐1,4‐dioxino[2,3‐ b ]pyridines 7 .
