New Results Concerning the “Phosphorus Monosulfide” (PS) x The orange‐yellow solid of approximate composition (PS) x obtained by dehalogenation of P(S)Br 3 with Mg proved to be a mixture of phosphorus sulfides e.g. P 4 S 3 , P 4 S 4 , P 4 S 5 , P 4 S 7 , and insoluble polymeric material. It is suggested that the latter contains a network of triply connected P atoms, many of which are substituted by groups. The conclusions are based on the results of analytical, mass‐spectrometric and 31 P‐NMR‐spectroscopic findings.
