Heavy Metal π Complexes, V 1 . ‐ The Layer Polymer {([C 6 H 6 SnCl][GaCl 4 ]) 2 } x,y In the system C 6 H 6 /SnC1 2 /GaC1 3 crystalline (benzene)chlorotin(+2) tetrachlorogallate(+3) (1) is obtained. According to an X‐ray structure analysis (Pca2 1 ) the solid contains polymeric {([C 6 H 6 SnCl][GaCl 4 ]) 2 } x,y layers built up by ((C 6 H 6 SnC1][GaCl 4 ]) 2 structural units. A unit consists of an Sn 2 Cl 2 2+ four‐ membered ring, two GaCl 4 − tetrahedra at opposite sides of the ring plane, and two benzene molecules bound to the tin atoms in a distorted η 6 state. A pseudorotational disorder of one of the benzene ligands was found. The tin‐arene bonding is much weaker in 1 compared to the chain polymer (([C 6 H 6 SnCl](AICl 4 ])} x (2).
