Azo Bridges from Azines, XI. – Azo‐Boranes – A New Class of Compounds Rigid systems with azo bridges of 2,3‐diazabicyclo[2.2.1]hept‐2‐ene (DBH)‐ and 2,3‐diazabicyclo[2.2.2]oct‐2‐ene (DBO)‐type form azo‐boranes as stable, colourless solids on addition of BH 3 ‐SMe 2 or BH 3 ‐THF ( 1–3, 5, 6, 8 ). On reaction of stoichiometric amounts of the two components CC double bonds are not attacked ( 2, 8 , exception 4 ). So far unexplained violet and blue colorations of the reaction mixtures are described.
