3,4‐Dihydroisoquinolines, III. — 1‐Substituted 5,6‐Dihydropyrrolo[2,1‐ a ]isoquinolines by Base‐Catalysed Ring Transformation of 1‐Furyl‐3,4‐dihydroisoquinolines The structure of the by‐product 3 formed together with 2 by base‐catalysed ring transformation of furan 1 was derived from spectroscopic data and the reaction products 4, 5 , and 6 . The synthesis of 9 from 8 and 1 strongly supports the pathway proposed for its formation.
