Silicon‐Containing Carbene Complexes, VII. Disulfide‐ catalyzed Reaction of (CO) 5 WC(XR)SiPh 3 (X = O, S) with Thiols (CO) 5 WC(OEt)SiPh 3 ( 1 ) reacts with RSH (R = Et, Me) only in the presence of disulfide, R 2 S 2 , to yield (CO) 5 WC(SR)SiPh 3 ( 2 ). Supplementary experiments indicate a cyclic transition state ( A ) which is formed from carbene complex, thiol, and disulfide. Exchange of the alkylthio group of 2 proceeds by an analogous mechanism.
