Arene(phosphane)metal Complexes, XII. Unexpected Formation of Monohydrido(phosphane)osmium(II) Complexes C 6 H 6 OsH[PMe 2 (OR)]I from C 6 H 6 Os(PMe 2 H)I 2 . A Compound with an OsPMe 2 Bond as Intermediate? The reaction of [C 6 H 6 OsI 2 ] 2 ( 4 ) with PMe 2 H produces the compound C 6 H 6 Os(PMe 2 H)I 2 ( 5 ) which reacts with KO‐ t ‐C 4 H 9 in methanol or diethylamine to give the monohydrido‐(phosphane)osmium(II) complexes C 6 H 6 OsH[PMe 2 (OR)]I ( 6a , RCH 3 ; 6b , R t ‐C 4 H 9 ). The mechanism possibly involves the formation of an intermediate 7 containing an OsPMe 2 bond.
