A Simple Method for the Preparation of Cationic Organometallic Sulfur Dioxide Complexes by Metal‐Metal Bond Cleavage [Co(CO) 4 SO 2 ] + AsF 6 −( 9 ) is isolated from the reaction of Co 2 (CO) 8 ( 8 ) with AsF 5 in liquid SO 2 . Similarly the known complexes [M(CO) 5 SO 2 ] + AsF 6 − [M = Mn, Re ( 6a, 6b )] or [η 5 ‐CpFe(CO) 2 ‐SO 2 ] + AsF 6 −( 7 ) can be prepared by metal‐metal bond cleavage from M 2 (CO) 10 and [η 5 ‐CpFe‐(CO) 2 ] 2 , respectively.
