Configuration of the Praziquantel Enantiomers The levorotatory (methanol) enantiomer of the anthelminthic agent praziquantel ( rac ‐ 1 ) is R ‐, the dextrorotatory S ‐configurated. This assignment is based upon CD‐spectra of both enantiomers and additionally confirmed by conversion of (+)‐ and (−)‐ 2 to the pyrazinoisoquinolines 3 of known configuration.
