Attemps at the Synthesis of Methylenephosphonium Cations from P ‐Chloromethylenephosphoranes In dichloromethane as solvent the P ‐chloromethylenephosphoranes 1a – f undergo an abstraction of chloride by AlCl 3 or AgBF 4 to give the methylenephosphonium cations 2a – f . In one case the salt 2f was isolated from liquid SO 2 and characterized by elemental analysis.
