Basic Metals, XXXIX. Oxidative Addition Reactions of HCI and CF 3 CO 2 H to Phosphanepalladium(0) Complexes Pd(PMe 3 ) 4 , Pd(PMePh 2 ) 4 , and Pd(P i Pr 3 ) 3 react with HCl at low temperatures to form trans ‐[PR 3 ) 2 PdHCl] ( 1 – 3 ). The corresponding complex trans ‐[(P i Pr 3 ) 2 PdH(OCOCF 3 )] ( 4 ) is obtained from Pd(P i Pr 3 ) 3 and CF 3 CO 2 H. The reactions of Pd(PMe 3 ) 4 and Pd(PPh 3 ) 4 with benzyl bromide lead to trans ‐[(PR 3 ) 2 Pd(CH 2 Ph)Br] ( 7 , 8 ).
