Functional Derivatives of Trimethylphosphane, XV. (Chloromethyl)dimethylphosphane (Chloromethyl)dimethylphosphane, Me 2 P(CH 2 Cl) ( 3 ), which is unstable at room temperature, has been synthesized. Reactions with O 2 , CH 3 Br and LiPMe 2 give Me 2 P(O)(CH 2 Cl) ( 4 , [Me 3 P(CH 2 Cl)]Br ( 5b and Me 2 PCH 2 PMe 2 ( 2 ), respectively. NMR data for these and related compounds are given.
