Conversion of Tricarbonyl(η 4 ‐6,6‐diphenylpentafulvene)iron with Nucleophiles Tricarbonyl(η 4 ‐6,6‐diphenylpentafulvene)iron ( 2a ), reacts with methanol/methoxide to form the “metalloester” 7a via nucleophilic attack of the carbon monoxide ligand. This is contrary to an earlier report in which a bridged cyclopentadiene system 6 has been proposed as reaction product.
