Applications of Phase Transfer Catalysis. Extraction of Hydrogen Halides and Hydrogen Peroxide into Nonpolar Media Attention is drawn to a process designated “extraction by hydrogen bonding”: Compounds like HX or HOOH are extracted by quaternary ammonium salts into nonpolar media in form of ion pairs [NR 4 +HX 2 ] or [NR 4 + X − ⃛ HOOH]. Factors involved in these processes are investigated.
