Studies on the Field of Natural Products Chemistry, 71. Psoralen and Angelicin by Reaction of 7‐Hydroxycoumarin with 4‐Chloro‐1,3‐dioxolan‐2‐one Direct condensation of umbelliferone ( 1 ) with 4‐chloro‐1,3‐dioxolan‐2‐one ( 2 ) yields 15% psoralen ( 3 ) and 20% angelicin ( 4 ).
