A Simple Synthesis of Bis(trimethylsilyl)mercury Chlorotrimethylsilane reacts with mercury and aluminium in tetrahydrofuran with formation of bis(trimethylsilyl)mercury and other products. Bis(trimethylsilyl)mercury is easily isolated by sublimation from the reaction mixture.
