Transition Metal Fulvene Complexes, XII. (Azulene)tricarbonylchromium(0) Complexes The synthesis of (azulene)tricarbonylchromium(0) ( 2 ) and tricarbonyl(4,6,8‐trimethylazulene)‐chromium(0) ( 3 ), the first azulene derivatives of hexacarbonylchromium, is described. The Cr(CO) 3 group is coordinated to the five‐membered ring of the azulene. Nucleophilic addition of CH 3 Li to 3 leads to the tricarbonyl(1,7 – 10‐η‐2,4,6,6‐tetramethylbicyclo[5.3.0]deca‐2,4,7,9‐tetraen‐1‐yl)‐chromate anion as salt 4 .
