Synthesis of 2,3,4,5,6,7‐Hexachloro‐8,8‐dicyanoheptafulvene On melting 1 with malononitrile and AlCl 3 at 150°C 2 is formed which rearranges thermally or photochemically into the title compound 4 . The structure of 4 is confirmed by its analogous synthesis from 3 as well as from spectroscopic data.
