Durch eine neuartige Vilsmeier‐Formylierung kann das 3‐Methylen‐phthalimidin ( 4 ) in das Imoniumsalz 5 bzw. in das freie 3‐Formylmethylen‐phthalimidin ( 6 ) übergeführt werden. 5 und 6 liefern die Kondensationsprodukte 7–10 .
