D ‐ threo ‐Pentulose ( 1 ) reagiert mit Cyclohexylamin zu N ‐Cyclohexyl‐2‐cyclohexylamino‐2‐des‐oxy‐α‐ D ‐lyxopyranosylamin ( 5 ), welches sauer zu 2‐Cyclohexylamino‐2‐desoxy‐ D ‐lyxose spaltbar ist. Mit β‐Alanin oder ϵ‐Aminocapronsäure reagiert D ‐ threo ‐Pentulose ( 1 ) zum Gemisch der Xylose‐ und Lyxose‐Aminosäuren, aus dem sich 2‐[2‐Carboxy‐äthylamino]‐2‐desoxy‐ D ‐xylose („ D ‐Xylose‐β‐Alanin”) ( 6a ) bzw. 2‐[5‐Carboxy‐pentylamino]‐2‐desoxy‐ D ‐xylose („ D ‐Xylose‐ϵ‐Aminocapronsäure”) ( 6b ) gewinnen lassen.
