Digital test rigs Liquid‐liquid extraction assumes a fundamental role in science education. Thereby, practical training for, e.g., liquid‐liquid extraction is an important element that has to be adapted to digitalization and Industry 4.0. The implementation of remote laboratories is a promising approach, as it allows students to supervise the experimental set‐up through remote control, to get an impression of the control on production plants. Furthermore, remotelab enables students abroad (e.g., partner universities) or students who have limited access (e.g., during pregnancy) to participate in practical training. In addition, it appears that the realization of remotelabs is a promising opportunity in times of COVID‐19. Despite the fact that the campus is closed for students, it is possible to introduce them to practical chemical training through the utilization of these remotelabs. In order to provide students a practical and research‐oriented education, the Institute of Chemical Technology at Freiberg University of Technology is working on the integration and combination of classical and digital education. In a further step, the institute is working on the advancement of practical courses, especially with a focus on the idea of Industry 4.0. Copyright: Univ.‐Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Martin Bertau.
