When Meg Stevens began leading the athletics department at Averett University in Virginia eight years ago, she wanted to provide student‐athletes and coaches with a clear understanding of her expectations. So she presented her “3‐2‐1” philosophy, which the department has been embracing as their vision ever since. She explained that philosophy as follows:
