As a four‐year, private military school that has a student population composed of three lifestyles — civilian, commuter, and the Corps of Cadets, many of whom have an ROTC scholarship — Norwich University fills a unique niche, which certainly gives it an edge when it comes to recruiting. But that niche doesn't erase the challenges so familiar to many other Division III schools, noted Tony Mariano, director of athletics at Norwich.
