Athletics administrators generally value the ability to be creative and to tailor responses and approaches to the operation of an athletics department based on a strategic plan, unique circumstances, or even recent developments that suggest some kind of change or immediate action is necessary. Similarly, they appreciate the ability to treat each coach and staff member in an individual manner based on each one's relative level of productivity and success. The ability to do things quickly and on an individualized basis are often viewed as important and essential aspects of leadership within an athletics department.
