The recent wave of litigation over concussions has triggered a renewed emphasis on student‐athlete safety across the board. In addition, widely viewed instances of failure to remove some student‐athletes from a competition even though they're obviously injured, and other student‐athletes returning sooner than would otherwise seem appropriate, have fueled the intensity of the discussion on player safety.
