The sidelines are ordinarily out of play and considered a safe zone. As a result, the sidelines tend to fill up with coaches, trainers, support staff, officials, fans, cheerleaders, and others. It is an area where coaching occurs, training and medical services are provided, and cheering takes place. So the area usually ends up very loud and crowded.
