When Gary Williams, Ph.D., first took on the role of director of athletics and recreation at Wittenberg University two years ago, he knew a significant transformation was in order. The department was siloed and fragmented to the point where leaders couldn't even agree to disagree, he recalled. He's led the department through a successful transformation, but with plenty of challenges along the way.
